FAQ

The results, presented in a Similarity Report are available within 24 hours of submitting the document. At periods where the volume of document verification is particularly high (such as during the winter and summer examination sessions) the results may take longer to process. 24 hour verification is the name of the service, the time frame specified is approximate, the Plagiat.pl team is not under any obligation to comply to the time frame.

Tokens are valid 6 months from the moment of purchase.

The System will inform the user of the total amount of tokens that is needed to check a document during the process of submitting that document for analysis. When the text of the document is uploaded to the content box, either from a file or using the copy/paste method, the System calculates the number of characters and the number of tokens needed. This information is displayed in the field below the content box. To check a document in the Strikeplagiarism.com System you need to purchase the amount of tokens that corresponds with the length of your document. One token allows a user to check a document that is no larger than 20,000 characters. For every further 20,000 characters the user must purchase a new token. To make your payment go to the “Payments” console. Important! The System calculates all the characters that appear in the document code when calculating the characters. This includes not only letters, digits, punctuation marks and spaces calculated by word processors such as MS WORD, but also paragraph breaks that are mostly ignored by word processors statistics.

No. Only documents submitted through subscription accounts can be added to the client’s database. The database is constructed by each client individually, the process is not automatic, a document must be manually chosen to be added to the database. The individual account (in which the user pays for verification using tokens) is not registered to a database and the documents verified using this type of account are not added to any database. No unauthorised third person has access to work submitted through an individual account.

The price of document analysis for users of subscription accounts is generally covered by the client institution. Costs are negotiated separately with each client according their tailored needs. The subscription license is generally determined based on the number and volume of submitted documents per annum. Individual accounts allow individual users (not assigned to any client university) to verify documents by purchasing tokens. One token allows a user to check a document that is equivalent to 20,000 characters.Once the document is uploaded, system shows how many Tokens shall be purchased. The maximum size of a document that can be analysed at a time is 1,500,000 characters. To purchase a token go to the “Payments” console. The transaction can be made by credit or debit card. When analysing a Similarity Report you should remember that:
The Strikeplagiarism.com Similarity Report is only a tool. The System mechanically detects similarities to other documents and provides with a result that should then be analyzed by a competent person to ascertain whether citations have been properly marked and annotations made. The Similarity Coefficient alone cannot be considered a definite measure of copyright infringement. The Strikeplagiarism.com System does not analyse which document was created first. The document that was submitted to the System earlier is treated as a source. Therefore the Similarity Report cannot be considered when deciding which file is the original and which is the copy. The methods of similarity detection used by the System sometimes cause commonly used or standardised phrases with specialised terminology to be highlighted as alleged plagiarism.
Different colors mean different sources. More information about Similarity report you can find in the Manual.

What does the Similarity Coefficient 2 indicate? The Similarity Coefficient 2 is a parameter that can be set individually by each client, it is displayed in the Similarity Report as well as on the Documents console. It is estimated using the same method as the Similarity Coefficient 1 (that is by calculating the percentage of words in the document that have been found in other sources). However the Similarity Coefficient 2 is estimated using only the words in fragments longer than a value defined by the client (such as 25 words). In this way the Similarity Coefficient 2 defines the percentage of the document that should be within quotation marks. The theory being that it is possible to use the same wording as a different author in a short fragment but impossible to write a long fragment that is identical to another text without it being a quote or a plagiarism.
